AMBULANCE STRETCHER LIFT<\/strong><\/span>
\nRequired in buildings of more than three stories, a minimum of one elevator shall be provided for fire fighter emergency operation to all floors. The elevator car shall be sized and arranged to accomodate 610mm x 1930mm stretcher in the horizontal open position.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

BREECHING INLET<\/strong><\/span>
\nA connection through which the Civil Defense Fire Department can pump supplemental water into the sprinkler system, standpipe, or other system, furnishing water for fire extinguishment to supplement existing water supplies. Buildings fitted with standpipes and automatic sprinkler system shall have access ways for pumping appliances within 18 m of the breeching inlet. The breeching inlets shall be visible from the access ways.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
DOOR SWING<\/strong><\/span>
\nDoors must typically swing in the direction of egress travel when serving;<\/p>\n

  • A High-Hazard occupancy of any occupant load.<\/li>\n

EXIT, EXIT ACCESS, EXIT DISCHARGE<\/strong><\/span>
\nMeans of egress is broken into three parts, the exit access, the exit, and the exit discharge.<\/p>\n
    \n
  • An exit access is a door in the means of egress that leads into the safety of an exit.<\/li>\n
  • The exit, itself, can be either a protected corridor or a protected staircase leading to an exit discharge.<\/li>\n
  • The exit discharge is the travel between the door at the end of the corridor or stairway and the public way. The door, itself, is usually thought to be part of the exit and not the exit discharge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
EMERGENCY VOICE COMMUNICATION<\/strong><\/span> Emergency Voice Communication (EVC) ia a system that is interlinked with the fire alarm to give evacuation or emergency messages throughout the premises for all occupants. (See Requirements here)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

EVACUATION PLAN or EMERGENCY EXIT PLAN<\/strong><\/span><\/a> A floor plan showing the possible evacuation routes in the building. It is color coded and uses arrows to indicate the designated exit. A room containing hazardous materials is indicated in the lower right hand corner of the building by the flame symbol. The assembly area is indicated outside the primary exit at the top of the building.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

FIRE LIFT<\/span><\/strong>
\nFire Lift is required in any building which is classified as high-rise of high depth building having more than 2 level of basement, there shall be provided at least one fire lift, which shall be contained within a separate protected shaft or a common protected shaft containing other lifts subject to such other lifts being served at each storey by a fire fighting lobby.
\nThe minimum dimension of a Fire lift car shall be of 1950mm either in length of breadth.See also the ‘ambulance stretcher lift’ size.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
FIRE FIGHTING LOBBY<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe fire fighting lobby shall have a clear floor area of not less than 5 sqm. The clear floor area should not exceed 20 sqm for for spaces serving up to four lifts or 5 sqm per lift for spaces serving more than four lifts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nFloor Diagrams shall show the actual floor layout, exit stairways locations, corridors, rooms, landing valves, hosereel, fire extinguishers, lift lobbies and other useful information for fire department as well as occupants.A floor diagram shall be provided in staircase landings on the wall beside the exit door. Floor diagrams shall also be provided beside fire alarm panels, in smoke-free enclosures, in fire fighting lobbies and in individual rooms of hotels and health care occupancies.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nSpeakers with flashers (strobe lights) shall be provided for basement car parks, mechanical or machine rooms, large machining room areas of factories (more than 5000sqm) and at locations where the ambient noise level is 75 db or more.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
LABOR ACCOMODATION<\/strong><\/span> Labor Accomodations include buildings or spaces in buildings where sleeping accomodation is provided for workers, with or without meals, but without individual cooking facilities. The phrase “without individual cooking facilities” refers to the absence of cooking equipment in any room or unit.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
